I was arrested last night

I woke up this morning thinking about the dream I had last night.  It’s rare that I remember my dreams, but I guess this one made a big impression. In my dream, I was trying to go into the local library to look for a certain art book but they required you to have a purse to enter the building.  (Yeah, it was my dream but it didn’t make sense to me either …. in the dream or now.)

So what do I do?  I borrowed some woman’s purse without asking.  I was just going to run in, get the book I needed and come right back out and give it back.  Before I could get very far, I was arrested. LOL. Apparently purse borrowing is a federal offense. I told the FBI, that I hadn’t opened it and I fully intended to give it back. They didn’t believe me. Thinking about it, I probably wouldn’t have believed it either. As I was sitting handcuffed, all I could think of was that I was going to have a felony on my record and I wouldn’t be able to get a job.  Weird dream. I wonder what book I was looking for?

Maybe it was 365 Daily Creativity Journal so I could work on Day 6. The prompt for day 6 is work with the first fruit or vegetable you see. Fresh, canned or juice.  Yeah other than potatoes I’m not into using food in art.  Plus, even if I was, I haven’t been shopping in a while, so I didn’t have any. So I found some cool images online and came up with this journal page:

Finally back at it

How were your holidays? I hope they were as good as mine were. Lots of family and LOTS of eating. I think I gained 8 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I felt so bad that I had to start dieting right after Christmas. I was so adamant that I had to do something, I didn’t even wait for the new year to do it. South Beach diet works for me so that’s what I’m doing.  I’m in the middle of the second week and I’ve already lost the holiday lbs.  Yay!!  Exercise…Booo but it has to be done….grudgingly, of course.

I’m also back at art journaling. But to get motivated I had to take the Strathmore Artist Papers journal workshop and while I’m not following directions exactly I am getting inspired.  The first workshop is about recycling your work from previous art pages.

I’m not sure it’s still open for signups but the ning workshop can be found at:

This is my first from the class:

Now just to get down to butterfly weight. Yeah, that’s gonna be one B-I-G butterfly.

How happy can a chubby girl be?

Just a couple of pages to show you today:

The first was from a vintage ad that had this woman along with the words:

“How happy can a chubby girl be?” It was an ad for clothing. I don’t think the manufacturer would dare to run an ad like that today.

Chubby Girl

This page is a simple one made with tape from TapeSwell and Michael’s.  In order to add the black charcoal I had to paint the tape with clear gesso. Once the gesso dried I added the smudged charcoal and set it with Krylon Fixative so it wouldn’t rub off.

The flowers were some extra die cuts I had leftover from another project. Now when I look at them, they seem to need some definition.

Thanks for reading.

What is your relationship with food?

That's the October 2008 Self-Portrait challenge. Here I'm eating a wonderful shrimp salad with vinagrette salad dressing while watching TV.

Later tonight Greg and I will go out for our usual Friday night dinner. It's something we both look forward to all week long. Friday nights are hard when you're dieting. "We" are dieting because I need to and he's doing it because he loves me and wants to experience what I'm going through. God, I love that man.

We are low carb dieting because it's the easiest one to follow. Once you go through the first week of phase one, all the cravings go away. Well most of them. You get to a place where you forget to eat until your stomach is crying for food. I love this diet because it easily translates into a great life style change. I'm such a carb addict that I literally and constantly crave breads, potatoes, sugar...it's all addicting to me.

A Friday in the life....

Today was a busy day with lots of tech calls to make. People were nice and easy to work with. That's not always the case. Some days I get people won't won't stop talking or they don't take direction well. I had a really nice woman who wanted some black and white graphics to use for her class handouts. I was able to give her some good ideas and she was very appreciative. Another woman who insisted that her links didn't work but when we spoke and she tried it, it did. hummm

It rained much of the day today. As much as we need the rain, I find it depressing. It's so gray and cold. All I wanted to do was sit in the bedroom and visit art websites on my laptop. Teesa Moore's site is one of my favorites. Atcards.com is another favorite. I spend a lot of time there looking through the gallery and looking for new swaps. I signed up for two swaps that sounded interesting but now can't get motivated to work on them. I have time so it's OK.

I wasn't completely lazy, I did get in some treadmill time just before lunch. A brisk 45 minute walk while watching a prerecorded episode of Y&R.

Greg and I went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays earlier and I did not have a good dinner experience. We've eaten there many times before but I'd never ordered this particular item. It was a Carolina chicken salad (dieting remember?) and it was filled with lettuce, nuts, bacon and tomatoes, breaded chicken and cheese. While all that sounds good it wasn't. The lettuce stunk, it was some packaged lettuce that smelled like McDonalds lettuce. And the chicken was breaded with more breading than chicken....not a good choice for someone on a low carb diet. Of course the menu didn't say it was breaded. If the lettuce had been fresh, I could have eaten the chicken without the breading. But the smell from the lettuce was just too much. I couldn't take it. To the resturants credit, they didn't charge us for the salad. After we left the resturant we drove by Wendy's for a chicken Blt salad. Shoot, if I have to diet, the food should at least taste good. Dieting is hard enough otherwise.
