My Friend Anne

My friend Anne of http://gaalcreative.blogspot.com is celebrating her 1 year FIRST BLOGOVERSARY! She has such a wonderful blog, you need to check it out. Congratulations Anne.

As part of her anniversary celebration she nominated me and others for the Circle of Friends award. Thanks Anne, this means so much to me.

I am going to nominate just a few of my online friends who always take the time to leave their wonderfully supportive comments on my posts.  But because I can’t nominate you all, I still I want everyone who visits to know how much I appreciate that you take the time to come visit.

Although Anne nominated me for this award, I’m going to re-nominate her for the award because she never fails to leave a very positive comment to my posts.

I need the weather to cooperate.

Girl in Red

I have really been enjoying the stencil class but I haven’t been able to spray outdoors because of the heat. It’s been over 100 for many days in a row recently. And if it’s not the heat it’s the wind.

So what I have been working on is searching for and cutting a few stencils. I have found some great precut stencils at Michael's and some great free images online that I can use as stencils.

Here are some free images sites that I found. You’ll see that they are scroll saw patterns but you can use the images for cutting stencils. They work great!

So I think today will be better, it’s only supposed to get to 94 degrees (only?). If you come over tonight after dinner, you’ll probably find me wearing my mask while holding my new spray paint colors, yellow and colonial red. Oh before I forget, you’re invited to come play.  I’ll share my other colors but can you bring some Forrest green spray paint with you? See you later.

Peace Baby

My latest piece for my stencil class.  It’s not finished but I wanted to post some art on my blog.  Not really sure how I will finish it.  I’m thinking about adhering it to a wood board cut in the same shape as the image is cut above.

What do you think? Any ideas?

It was just a baby

in Honor of a Little Bird

This weekend, my guy and I were sitting in the backyard enjoying the afternoon when we heard a thud.  We looked around and found a cute baby scrub jay that had fallen out of its nest. The poor thing was scared out of it’s little bird head and he latched on for dear life to the wire shelf he fell on. It took the two of us to pry him loose.  My guy took him back to the tree he fell out of but couldn’t put him in the nest.  We hoped the mother bird would find it and keep him safe.

The next morning I went out to look for him and the neighborhood cat had gotten to him. Poor baby.  Even the cats owner was upset that she hadn’t been able to keep her cat in the house. She has lots of kids and the cat runs out the door the minute one of the kids open it.

I’ve never been a cat person so I don’t see the appeal but I do understand it’s a natural thing for cats to chase and eat birds. But that doesn’t mean I won’t miss that little bird and his squawky song.

Other than that, I had a great 4th of July weekend.  How was yours? Didn’t the 3 day weekend just fly by?  Our town is the biggest 4th of July lover I have ever seen. Almost every one has a party and they all shoot off fireworks (legal in our county).  At least 4 different parties in our neighborhood had roman candles lighting up the sky all though the evening.  It was a site to see. Are fireworks legal where you live?
