I Need Help

OK I know the first thing that came to your mind is that I probably need mental help. And yes I do,  :) but not tonight.  Tonight I am looking for a "stencil" used frequently in paintings and art journals. This is not a true stencil but is, I believe, left over after punching out the sequins that come attached to it.  In other words, it is the leftover material after taking the sequins off and it is a series of staggered circles.

You can see it in this art page by "Journal Girl Kira".  The stencil is along the top edge of the image.

Anyway, can someone please tell me where can I find this stencil???

Besides searching for this stencil, I've been making a couple of Valentine cards. I made two, one for My Girl and one for My Guy.  I mailed the one to My Girl and wouldn't you know it I forgot to take a picture, fudge :)  Maybe tomorrow I'll post the one I made for My Guy.   But I won't show you the mushy parts that are for his eyes only.  Wouldn't be right.

My Guy and I have been married for almost 21 years (March 28th is our 21st anniversary) and we are still as lovey as ever. But I'll tell you it gets hard to think of something to get for Valentines day, that you've never done before. And after 20+ years, believe me, you've gotten just about everything. You have to get real creative.  I hope I was this year. Keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't open his gift and then look at me wondering just what I was thinking. LOL. Well it will be fun. {Wink} I can just hear My Girl say eeww so I'll say goodnight.

Don't forget to leave me a note if you know where I can find that stencil.

  1. Hi, wonder if you have this right. It does not seem to be too regular, I therefore wonder if it is a punched stencil. You can get a similar effect from using a piece of bubble wrap on a wet painting. EG paint the background in watercolour, place a pice of bubble wrap over the paint and allow to dry - patience is a virtue here. I have seen this technique in novel ways with watercolour but never tried it myself. I have however tried a similar process with scrunched up cling film, and it works great.

I will go away and try it now. Let you know the result. John

  2. Hi John, I may have posted the wrong photo for what I'm looking for but I have seen the stencil. Now I don't remember where I saw it ... hazards of getting old and senile. :) I am *very* interested in knowing the results of your experiment. Please let me know how it turns out.
    Thanks. Linda

  3. Hi Linda, sorry I can't help with the stencil. But if you are interested the texture effect using bubble wrap is shown on my blog at http://johndyhouse.blogspot.com/2008/02/watercolour-texture-effect-with.html
    Cheers, John
