Time flies when you are having fun.

We spent the weekend getting the house ready to set up the Christmas tree. That meant moving furniture around so I could finally have my tree in the living room window. I’ve never owned a house with a large window facing the street. Well OK, I still don’t. But the house I live in has one. So I’m a happy [Christmas] camper.

I decided not to get a real tree this year. My guy hates to clean up after them and so I decided to be nice to him this year and get an artificial tree.  And he decided not to complain about putting up the outdoor Christmas lights. Yay we both win. LOL!! Ok confession time, we did it for Little G. It’s G’s first Christmas and although he won’t remember it, we will and so will My Girl [G’s momma].

In other news, I've been really enjoying the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas.  However,   I could never afford to create all the beautiful tags he's designed without my Cricut cutter and Make The Cut software [aka MTC].  Tim uses so many different die cuts and each set is about $20 each. So I've been using MTC to make my own versions of his designs.  If you haven't heard of the 12 Tags of Christmas, here is link to the blog where the tutorials are located. Beware, tag making is addicting and the tutorials are quite long and informative.

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot

My dear friend, Aimeslee of Paper Paisleys, nominated me for the Kreative Blogger award on March 31st and I forgot to thank her for the honor and I also forgot to follow the rules of the award.  I meant to do this a long time ago and some how time just got away from me and it slipped my mind.

The rules governing this award are as follows:
List 7 things about myself:

  1. Even at my age I am still a jeans and tee-shirt kind of woman.
  2. My favorite dessert is cheesecake.
  3. Spumoni ice cream is one of my favorites.
  4. I love Greek food, especially Gyros.
  5. Last summer we grew eggplant and we had so much I had to freeze it.  I have had to learn so many new ways to make so we don’t get bored. This is one of my favorites:  Melitzanosalata Agioritiki (Athenian Eggplant Salad)
  6. I drive a red Mustang convertible.
  7. I used to own a red Triumph convertible that I named Scarlet. I loved that car.

Here are a few bloggers I think deserve this award:

The six quirky boring things about me, this shouldn't be hard. :-)

1> Before Lasik, used to be that I wore glasses for distance, now I wear them for close up. I can't get away from them.

2> Did you know that you can get really cute reading glasses at Target for only $1.00.  Yeah, $1.00.  I must have 6-7 pair.

3>  I'm a cheapskate.  If it doesn't entertain me I don't want to spend money on it. :)

4> I hate emptying the dishwasher. (see I told you it would be hard.)

5> I have 6 toy sewing machines, one vintage machine and one regular.  All from my quilting days.

Five people I am tagging and awarding the Kreativ Blog award to are:

Tagged again...

Jennifer from Trial and Error tagged me in my "I've been tagged" post.  Then before I finished this message I was tagged again by Sandy at My own Little World.

The "Rules" for being tagged:

  • link to the person who tagged you
  • list 6 random things about yourself
  • tag 6 new people
  • let each tagged person know by posting a comment on their blog
  • link to the 6 people you've tagged
  • and let the person who tagged you know that you posted

Six new random things:

  1. I love, love, love New Mexico red and green chile but it has to be HOT! Spicy hot.  You just can't get that hot stuff here in California.
  2. Rather than get it over with, I procrastinate doing the things I hate to do. Then I stress over it.
  3. I always thought it would be cool to own a bookstore and coffee shop near a university.
  4. I have a deep desire to visit Italy and photograph everything I see.  Not sure I'll ever make it.
  5. The TV show Supernatural is my guilty pleasure.  I adore Jensen Ackles.
  6. When I was I younger I had a premonition that I would be in a car and we would collide with a white car. The next day, as I was telling my friend about the vision, a white car rear ended us.

I've been Tagged

Christy from Average American Girl blog has tagged me. Thanks Christi. What 6 random LittleBit's should I tell you about myself? Hummm

1> I love computer programming:

When I was in college I took an elective class in computer programming and I loved it. I knew I should change my major from accounting to computer science but I was tired of being a poor student, all I wanted to do was graduate.

2> I used to be an accountant.

I spent 7 years as a CPA and another 6 as a controller for a wine marketing company. It was OK but it wasn't me. When the wine company moved from Napa to San Jose, I chose to quit instead of move. But instead of job hunting, I contacted a software company that produced quilting software (yes quilting software) to ask if I could review their program for the quilting message board on AOL. After the review, they hired me to handle their tech support. That was 13 years ago.

3> I make the best flour tortillas ever.

I have a secret ingredient. If you make flour tortillas and want to know how to make them better, leave me a comment.

4> I learned to tread water at 53.

I never felt comfortable swimming until we moved to our current home. Our new house has a pool and my husband taught me to tread water the first year were were here and by the end of the year I was diving in the deep end.

5.> I love quotations.

I love using quotations in my art work. Sometimes I get inspired by a quote and other times I look for a quote that fits my art.

6> I used to quilt.

Before I began directing my creative energy to collage and painting I used to quilt. This is the last quilt I made, it was my girl's wedding present. Each little square is 1".

AlmasQuilt-small
