Cousin in Beeswax

I found a picture of a distant adopted cousin and I thought she deserved to be immortalized in wax. Her name is Maria Alba Zanoon and the picture was taken in 1939.  Isn't she beautiful?

Any ideas on how to frame it? I've never seen a beeswax collage framed so I'm not sure how to do it.  It's not flat, the key is a real key so there is some unevenness to it.

Latest journal entry

This is the latest entry in my art journal. It was done with Watercolor pencils but I didn't add water. I hope it's safe.

Will you be my Valentine?

Here is one of the Valentine Cards I made this year:

Valentine's Day Card

I feel so blessed to have My Guy as my husband.
He is such a wonderful and supportive husband
and great looking too.

I couldn't ask for a better husband
because they don't come any better than My Guy.  :)

I Need Help

OK I know the first thing that came to your mind is that I probably need mental help. And yes I do,  :) but not tonight.  Tonight I am looking for a "stencil" used frequently in paintings and art journals. This is not a true stencil but is, I believe, left over after punching out the sequins that come attached to it.  In other words, it is the leftover material after taking the sequins off and it is a series of staggered circles.

You can see it in this art page by "Journal Girl Kira".  The stencil is along the top edge of the image.

Anyway, can someone please tell me where can I find this stencil???

Besides searching for this stencil, I've been making a couple of Valentine cards. I made two, one for My Girl and one for My Guy.  I mailed the one to My Girl and wouldn't you know it I forgot to take a picture, fudge :)  Maybe tomorrow I'll post the one I made for My Guy.   But I won't show you the mushy parts that are for his eyes only.  Wouldn't be right.

My Guy and I have been married for almost 21 years (March 28th is our 21st anniversary) and we are still as lovey as ever. But I'll tell you it gets hard to think of something to get for Valentines day, that you've never done before. And after 20+ years, believe me, you've gotten just about everything. You have to get real creative.  I hope I was this year. Keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't open his gift and then look at me wondering just what I was thinking. LOL. Well it will be fun. {Wink} I can just hear My Girl say eeww so I'll say goodnight.

Don't forget to leave me a note if you know where I can find that stencil.

Journaling on Black

These are my latest journal pages. I found this journal with this gorgeous black paper about a month ago and was going to use it as my new daily journal until I got a new moleskin journal for Christmas. So I'm using that instead but I couldn't resist the beautiful black pages anymore. Here they are:

This is my Exemplar for some quirky letters. Drawn with gel pens.

Congrats to My Girl on her great review at her job. I'm very proud of you.

Book Pages ATC

I signed up for a Book Pages ATC swap at www.ATCards.com  These are the cards I made for the swap.

The card on the top right and the one on the bottom are colored with water soluble oil pastels.  I just found these crayon like paints and I love them.

Zentangles and Goals for 2008

Here are the Zentangle ATCs I wrote about yesterday. These have been fun and creating them has a meditative quality to it.

I have 2 others in progress. I'll post them when they are done.

Here is the link to a website that is about creating a Zentangle. They are selling supplies for creating Zentangles but I don't see a need. Paper and a good black ink pen is all you need. I used the smooth side of watercolor paper and a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pen to create mine. But do look at the gallery. They have some fantastic examples.

As for my goals for 2008, they are very simple:

  1. Eat healthy foods.
  2. Exercise more often.
  3. Create something artistic daily whether it be art or work related.
  4. Write in my blog or my journal daily. (I don't promise to do both daily because I know I won't).
  5. Create To-Do lists daily so I don't forget to do the mundane tasks that I'd rather forget but have to be done.

That's it. Still sick with a cold but not feeling too bad at the moment, thanks to some Alka-Seltzer Cold medicine.
